Daily Wisdom

Surely, I Heard Him Say
by Dimple

I used to walk alone, stranded and lost in sin,
‘Til one day when my Savior reached down and pulled me in.
I know I made God sad while busy keeping satan glad.
Each time I left a bar, what a joy I thought I’d had.

Then surely my Savior asked, “Aren’t you tired of suffering yet?
If satan takes your life, what reward will you get?
What has he promised you? Did he ever keep his word?
Don’t you realize that devil’s the biggest liar you ever heard?”

I’ve promised you a crown, and life forever, so serene.
I will even defeat your enemies – stand still and try me.
When your mind grows weary there’s rest in me.
You will never be alone, for I’ll always be with thee.

I am your salvation when you trust to let me in.
I am your comforter, when you have not a friend.
I am your father, your banker – for it all belongs to me.
I’m the light shining before you, when your eyes grow too dim to see.

I am your maker, your creator – I gave my son for you.
Before you know that I am love, what more must I do?
Reach out - take my hand. I promise to never let go.
For truly you would not exist, but that I love you so.

Oh, surely I heard Him say
“But that I love you so.”
